Trans-Amigos Express Connection

A connection between Kansas Library Express (KLE) and Trans-Amigos Express (TAE) began operation February 10, 2014.  Four days a week, this connection links more than 230 Trans-Amigos libraries with all members of Kansas Library Express.  A group has been setup in the OCLC ILL Policies directory that lists all OCLC participants in the service. The code for this group is TAKE.

Kansas libraries will use the Trans-Amigos labels to ship materials to Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico locations.  The Trans-Amigos libraries will use the Kansas Library Express labels to return items. Links to Trans-Amigos participants and shipping label templates appear below.

Kansas libraries will use their library name in the “From” field.  Do not use your Kansas Library Express shipping code.

Remember, these instructions were written for Trans-Amigos participants, so disregard use of “location number and hub” in the From field.

Below is an example of a completed TAE shipping label.

Both services use zippered bags to ship materials and may use either a KLE or TAE shipping bag.  When using Trans-Amigos bags, please refer to guidelines for proper closing of the shipping label window.
